The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Full Professor position in the tenure track. Applicants must have an MD or MD/PhD degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education and research.

Candidates should be highly qualified for a Full Professor position in the tenure track, with an endowed chair offering major institutional support. The successful candidate will be expected to have international prominence, a state-of-the-art research program in diabetes or obesity, and a superior publication record. The specific area of research is flexible, but we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in mechanisms of mitochondrial function, central control of metabolism, insulin resistance, and metabolic inflammation. Teaching qualifications and experience are required for training students and postdoctoral fellows.

We are particularly interested in individuals who will complement existing strengths of the Penn Institute for Diabetes, Obesity,and Metabolism (IDOM). The IDOM is a multi-disciplinary institute which serves as an intellectual, physical,and supportive infrastructure for basic and clinical research. Collaborations extend beyond the confines of the Perelman School of Medicine and include other academic departments and schools at the University of Pennsylvania.

This is an exciting opportunity to facilitate basic, translational, and clinical research within a world-class university and prominent health system. The preferred academic department for this faculty appointment is the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, although appointment in a basic science department will be considered if appropriate.
