The Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM) is currently seeking qualified applicants for the role of Medical Director, Burn Unit Temple University Hospital (TUH).

Reporting to the Section Chief of Trauma & Surgical Critical Care the Surgical Director of the Burn Unit, TUH will examine, diagnose, and surgically treat patients with burns from heat, cold, chemical, electrical, or other incidents and perform escharectomy, skin grafting, and secondary burn surgery. The Surgical Director will be responsible for all functions of the burn unit and will be actively involved in the education of surgical critical care fellows, general surgery residents, and medical students.

The successful applicant must demonstrate a high degree of expertise in burn management, as well as a proven track record of teaching, scholarly activity, and clinical burn research is preferred. Successful candidates must have a minimum of two years of clinical/surgical experience and strong familiarization with the standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the burn field. Requirements also include proven skills in acute care and trauma surgery. Candidates must possess an MD or MD/PhD, must be board eligible or certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery; and credentials that will support a faculty appointment at the minimum level of Assistant Professor. Candidates also must be eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Temple University Hospital has a specialized and highly sophisticated burn care facility - the Temple Burn Center. It's the region's only burn center at a Level 1 trauma center. And it's the only burn facility in the area to be affiliated with an academic medical center, giving patients the added measure of confidence that they're getting the best care possible.

Verified by the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons, the Temple Burn Center offers a wide range of care - from high-level trauma care for severely burned patients to outpatient care for those with less severe burns. And regardless of the extent of the injury, all burn patients treated in the Temple University Hospital emergency room are fast tracked and seen by Burn Center specialists.
