Northwell Health is seeking an Anesthesia Clinical Director to join our multidisciplinary team in Department of Anesthesiology at Staten Island University Hospital. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Completes the Daily Work Flow assignment sheets for the OR/other anesthetizing areas such as Cardiac Cath Lab, EP Lab, Interventional Radiology, MRI, and Endoscopy.
  • Directs and coordinates the assignments of Anesthesia Clinical Staff throughout the work day.
  • Assigns Anesthesia Clinical Staff to see patients preoperatively and post operatively
  • Assigns Anesthesia Clinical Staff to respond to codes and other emergencies throughout the hospital.
  • Assigns Anesthesia Clinical Staff to evaluate and manage post-operative patients with PCA pumps
  • Communicates with the Center for Ambulatory and South OR Anesthesia Clinical Staff on a daily basis regarding staffing needs and reallocates staff as needed.
  • Communicates with staff outside the OR regarding in-house patient concerns
  • Carries Spectra Link Phone to expedite solutions to daily work flow problems and provide immediate communication with all anesthesia personnel
  • Acts as liaison between the Nursing Staff at the Central OR, and other anesthetizing areas and Anesthesia personnel
  • Assists with starting IVs, induction of pediatric cases, and complex cases
  • Immediately available for emergencies that may occur within the OR
  • Responds to needs in PACU and Pre-Op Holding Area
  • Coordinates pre-operative assessments with the staff in Pre Admission Surgical Testing.
  • Orients newly hired and assists in the training of new Anesthesia medical Staff as needed.
  • Oversees initial clinical performance of individuals who have been granted privileges
  • Assists in performance evaluation of Anesthesia Clinical Staff with Chairman
  • Ensures and provides proper supervision of CRNAs, Residents, and students i.e. SRNAs, MedicalStudents
  • Return calls from patients at home to discuss concerns prior to surgery.
  • Represents the Department of Anesthesia at meetings as necessary.
  • Assists in implementing performance improvement initiatives.
  • Assists with all regulatory surveys as needed; ie DOH, JCAHO.
  • Performs related duties as required

Salary Disclosure

Full-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125K to $750K, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, level of experience, quality of care, academic accomplishments, patient experience and productivity. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
