The Division of Hematology and Oncology and the Comprehensive Cancer Center in the School of Medicine, Department of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) are seeking an outstanding academic physician investigator as Section Head in Genitourinary (GU) Malignancies. The Section Head will be committed to furthering the academic and clinical development of an outstanding GU cancer program, providing exemplary patient care in a comprehensive and integrated manner, conducting research in GU malignancies, and developing a strong portfolio of clinical trials to advance the care of GU cancer patients, and promoting interactions between laboratory and clinical investigators to enhance translation of novel observations from bench-to-bedside. The program is supported by an outstanding multidisciplinary team of surgeons, radiation oncologists, and pathologists with expertise in genitourinary cancers, as well as very strong basic research programs in this area.

Appointments will be at the Associate or Full Professor level, tenure earning, tenured, or non tenure earning, commensurate with experience. Applicants must have an MD degree, and board certified or board eligible in hematology and/or oncology.

The Division is rapidly expanding its clinical and translational research and educational activities with heavy investment from the Department, School, and Cancer Center. The UAB NCI funded Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of the nation’s leading cancer research and treatment centers. Faculty have access to several outstanding interdisciplinary programs including the UAB CTSI, the Alabama Drug Discovery Alliance, and flagship programs in Genomics/personalized medicine, advanced medical imaging, outcomes and effectiveness research, and survivorship, amongst several others.
