JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for overall strategy development and administrative oversight and leadership for Geisinger’s Supply Chain Enterprise Operations which includes procurement, sourcing, contracting, logistics and storage of supplies, services and equipment and assigned services such as patient transport.  Provides innovative leadership and direction to the design, implementation, performance monitoring and management of service operations, quality improvement and compliance, new product development, and integrated support of clinical patient care operations.  Identifies new business opportunities and leads implementation of supply chain business operations for the Geisinger Health System.  Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with all Geisinger Platforms, outside vendors, and industry associations.

 

Directly accountable to the Chief, Care Support Services.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assures the mission, goals and values of Geisinger are maintained within enterprise supply chain operations.

2 Assures delivery of high value service standards in operations including business operations and clinical program support and quality improvement efforts.

3. Responsible for developing the vision and strategic planning for supply chain operations and assuring deployment within Geisinger operations. 

4.  Responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory agency standards. 

5.  Direct accountability for delivery of innovative supply chain solutions that supports high quality and cost effective health care within Geisinger’s core programs as well as expanding these services to new business opportunities.

6. Leads business and strategy development, and deployment of enterprise supply chain services for new business opportunities.

7.  Leads research and development of new supply chain delivery models that operationally integrate in to GHS initiatives that align payment with high quality, cost effective care as applicable.

8. Sets performance standards and ensures establishment and provides oversight of a methodology for continuous analysis and improvement of business operations improvement activities. 

9. Responsible for budget development and oversight.

10.  Establishes a working matrix relationship with institute leaders, GHS leadership and leadership within external provider partnerships as applicable.

 

11.  Recruits, selects and retains highly qualified professionals.  Provides the leadership necessary to maintain a motivated, productive and highly skilled team through open communication and delegation of responsibilities and authority.  Guides and directs subordinates in their personal and professional development. 

12.  Leads and manages the business affairs of the Enterprise Supply Chain including problem solving and performance standard development.

13.  Fosters and plans a positive work environment with teaming, respect, and communication; supports personal growth and development of people.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree in health-related field, Health Care Administration, or Business required; or, enrollment in a Master’s degree program within 12 months of hire date with Master’s degree completed within 4 years of hire date is required.

Minimum of ten years of supply chain management experience required.

Extensive knowledge of all aspects of supply chain operations.  Must demonstrate ability to lead and manage significant change and clinical and business operations transformation activities. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is typically performed in an office environment. Independent travel to sites

throughout the Geisinger system.
