AP or AP/CP Pathologist
ALBANY, NEW YORK (USA). The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Albany Medical College in Albany, NY is seeking a board certified AP or AP/CP pathologist at the Assistant Professor level to join a growing department that is also transitioning into a semi subspecialized surgical pathology sign out system. Candidates are required to have completed a one-year surgical subspecialty fellowship. Subspecialty training in Gastrointestinal, Gynecologic, Genitourinary, or Breast Pathology with or without fellowship training in Molecular Genetic Pathology is especially desirable but not a requirement.
Expectations of the position include clinical service work (primarily in one’s subspecialty with minor participation in two other areas of choice) and customized proportions of translational research, teaching, and/or administrative contributions depending on the individual’s strengths and experience. Faculty mentoring and development is a departmental priority. The Department consists of nearly 100 faculty, trainees, and support staff, and is home to an ACGME accredited pathology residency training program consisting of 15 residents as well as one fellow in an ACGME accredited Hematopathology fellowship.
Albany Medical Center is a quaternary care 734-bed hospital with a 25-county catchment. The Albany region is known for outstanding public schools in beautiful affordable suburban neighborhoods within 20 minutes from the medical center. Proximity and very easy access to Boston, Chicago, and New York City also make this an ideal location without the high cost of living. The Adirondacks, Tanglewood, and Saratoga Springs are popular weekend destinations.
