Cleveland Clinic, one of the world's most distinguished academic medical centers announces a search for the Department Chair of Pediatric Anesthesiology within the Anesthesiology Institute.
The Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology provides anesthetic care to over 9,000 patients annually undergoing all types of pediatric procedures within several hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers throughout northeast Ohio. The Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology is based on our Cleveland Clinic's Main Campus with 20 anesthetizing locations, providing comprehensive perioperative anesthesia services for pediatric general surgery, congenital heart, digestive diseases, hematology/oncology, acute pain management, and imaging.
The department includes 19 staff anesthesiologists, 10 certified registered nurse anesthetists, fellows, and residents. The Pediatric Institute and Pediatric Surgery Operations have established six Pediatric Centers of Excellence to streamline and ensure high quality and high reliability pediatric anesthesia care at all of our Cleveland Clinic Facilities. As such, the Pediatric Anesthesiology Department Chair partners closely with the Pediatric Institute Chair and Surgical Operations teams to provide pediatric anesthesia care in Centers of Excellence consistently throughout all of our facilities. This also allows us to enhance the patient experience and standardize care within pediatric anesthesia, child-life specialists and nursing.
Cleveland Clinic's Anesthesiology Institute unites all specialists in cardiothoracic anesthesia, critical care, congenital heart anesthesia, general anesthesia, pain management, pediatric and regional practice, outcomes research and education within one fully integrated model of care to improve diagnosis, medical management and quality of life for our patients. We strive to advance anesthesia through clinical excellence, education and innovation. Our internationally recognized medical staff and dedicated support team perform more than 200,000 procedures annually.
The ideal candidate should be a recognized leader within Pediatric Anesthesiology as an outstanding clinician, educator, and scholar, who supports research and education within the subspecialty and within a multi-specialty organization. The Department Chair will have ultimate responsibility for the clinical, educational, research, and fiscal oversight within the department in order to achieve personal and institutional success. A faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with experience is available at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.
