Network Chairman of Pediatrics – Western Connecticut Health Network, Danbury, CT

Western Connecticut Health Network has an outstanding opportunity for a Network Chairman of Pediatrics over its three hospital system, including Danbury, New Milford, and Norwalk Hospitals.

The Western Connecticut Health Network Chairman of Pediatrics provides clinical and strategic leadership for all components of the Department of Pediatrics and ensures the highest standard of excellence in the care and safety of all pediatric patients. The Chairman will work with network administration to set the strategic vision for neonatal, pediatric and adolescent services, overseeing directly or in partnership: inpatient pediatrics, outpatient pediatrics, and NICU. The Chairman shares responsibility for the supervision and direction of the day to day operations of the department and will also partner with the Chairman of Emergency Medicine and the Chairman of Surgery on standards of care for pediatric patients. The Chairman is responsible for maintaining excellent quality outcomes in the Department and will assess all pediatric programs and identify areas for improvement or areas for growth and expansion. The Chairman will work with the administration to implement those programs that align with the strategic plan of the network. This position reports to the Network VP of Medical Affairs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background in pediatrics and at least five years of leadership experience, including strategy and program development. Experience in an academic setting is a plus. Current board certification in General Pediatrics and/or one of the pediatric subspecialties is required. This is an employed position with a highly competitive compensation package, including relocation allowance.

Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area residents convenient access to exceptional care. Danbury Hospital has 371 beds and is a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 70,000 ED visits per year. Norwalk Hospital has 366 beds and is also a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 50,000 ED visits per year. Both Danbury and Norwalk are teaching hospitals, associated with the Yale University School of Medicine, University of Vermont School of Medicine, and Ross University School of Medicine. New Milford Hospital has 85 beds and about 20,000 ED visits per year. Western Connecticut Medical Group, also part of the Network, includes 400+ physicians and 140+ advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout Western Connecticut and eastern New York with over 70 outpatient practice locations.

Danbury, Connecticut, located in Fairfield County, is about 70 miles northeast of New York City and 60 miles west of Hartford, CT. As part of the greater NY metropolitan area, the city of Danbury enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, fishing, and boating in state and regional parks and preserves. Danbury is home to Western Connecticut State University as well as a number of historical sites, museums, theaters, and art galleries. Surrounded by a number of quaint towns with scenic rolling hills, the area offers a variety of excellent housing and school options. Boston, New York City, New Haven, and Hartford are easily accessible via train, car, or bus.
