JOB SUMMARY                                                                                

The Senior Medical of HIV Services will lead the Cook County Health & Hospitals System (CCHHS) towards ameliorating the regional epidemic of HIV/AIDS and related sexually transmitted and blood borne infections by ensuring consistent application across CCHHS facilities of: state-of-the-art primary and subspecialty medical care for patients infected with HIV by fully implementing recommended HIV screening and testing practices; and by integrating these services with comprehensive intervention and outreach, sexual and mental health and case management services. This position is responsible for ensuring coordination of these efforts with those of local, regional, state, and federal health departments; with non-CCHHS HIV medical care providers; and with community based organizations (CBOs) providing relevant services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited medical college or university
  • Licensed as a physician in the State of Illinois or must obtain two (2) weeks prior to starting employment
  • Current and valid Illinois Controlled Substances License or must obtain two (2) weeks prior to starting employment 
  • Current and valid licensure with the Federal DEA or must obtain two (2) weeks prior to starting employment 
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases with the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
  • Ten (10) or more years of clinical practice experience in Infectious Diseases and ambulatory HIV care
  • Eligibility for appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor of an accredited medical college or university
  • Valid Driver’s license and mandatory vehicle insurance as required in the State of Illinois (In accordance with the Code of Ordinances of Cook County, Illinois codified through Ordinance No. 16-0692, enacted February 10, 2016 (Supp. No. 32) § Sec. 2-673)
