Job Details
Merritt Hawkins has partnered with the department of Medicine at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine (WMed) in the recruitment of faculty for the division of Infectious Diseases. WMed is a collaboration involving Western Michigan University, a top 100 national public doctoral university in the U.S., and two award-winning teaching hospitals, nationally recognized for innovation and quality. WMed is one of the few U.S. medical schools in several decades to be built entirely from the ground up. Opened in June 2014, the medical school's new 350,000 square foot educational building underwent a $68 million renovation and expansion including a 24,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art simulation center. Applicants at all faculty ranks will be considered. There is the possibility for appointment as Division Chief for a highly qualified candidate with a strong track record of academic achievements and leadership. There are also opportunities for applicants who are dually board certified in adult and pediatric infectious diseases.
Division faculty provide a broad range of inpatient and ambulatory clinical services as well as resident and medical student education. Further details include:
- 100% Infectious disease practice wide range of cases and diverse patient population draw area includes rural and urban communities, as well as mid-to-large sized metros
- Inpatient consults only, no direct admissions opportunities in Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship for interested candidates
- Two thirds of time spent on clinical and teaching responsibilities, one third of time available for academic and scholarly pursuits
- Established Center for Clinical Research allows opportunities and resources for developing clinical research programs
