Western Connecticut Medical Group is seeking Nocturnists/Adult Hospitalists for Danbury and Norwalk Hospitals in Danbury, CT and Norwalk, CT. Positions are a NIGHT schedule. Danbury is from 8 PM – 8 AM with two weekends per month and Norwalk is from 7 AM – 7 PM  (5 on 5 off). Both work about 15 shifts per month and are employed positions with Western Connecticut Medical Group. We offer a competitive compensation package, including base salary plus quality incentives and allowances for CMEs and Dues. H1-B and Greencard sponsorship may be available for these great opportunities to join a team with a small community hospital feel in a collegial work environment while being able to work closely with different specialties. J-1 waiver may be available for Danbury.

Established in 1885, Danbury Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area residents convenient access to exceptional care. Danbury Hospital is part of Western Connecticut Health Network, which also includes New Milford and Norwalk Hospitals as well as over 70 outpatient practice locations. Danbury Hospital has 371 beds and is a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 70,000 ED visits per year. As a teaching hospital, we are associated with the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Yale University School of Medicine, and St. George's University School of Medicine. Our Medical Group includes 400+ physicians and 140+ advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout Western Connecticut and eastern New York.

Danbury, Connecticut, located in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains and on the border of New York State, is about 70 miles northeast of New York City and 60 miles west of Hartford, CT. As part of the greater NY metropolitan area, the city of Danbury enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, fishing, and boating in state and regional parks and preserves. Home to Western Connecticut State University, Danbury has abundant local historical, cultural, educational, and recreational attractions. Norwalk Hospital is a Yale-affiliated community teaching hospital with a robust internal medicine residency program located less than an hour from NYC in beautiful Fairfield County. It’s a great opportunity to supervise Residents and night and work closely with them on admissions of patients. Norwalk Hospital is a member of the Western Connecticut Health Network, which also includes Danbury and New Milford Hospitals in addition to our Medical Group, which has over 70 outpatient practice locations. Norwalk Hospital is a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 50,000 ED visits per year. As a teaching hospital, we are associated with the Yale University School of Medicine, University of Vermont School of Medicine and Ross University School of Medicine. Our Medical Group includes 400+ physicians and 140+ advanced practice providers, serving a geographically broad region throughout Western Connecticut and eastern New York.

Astride a hill with a commanding view of the Long Island Sound, Norwalk Hospital serves a varied and attractive region of Southern Connecticut. The hospital is just minutes from beautiful places to hike, swim, sail or just walk along the beach. Connecticut Magazine recently named South Norwalk as the “hottest” nightspot between Boston and New York City, with a plethora of theater groups and restaurants to choose from. New York City is easily accessible by car or train.

Job Summary:

Provide medical care to patients, assist them to recover from acute illnesses and minimize the effects of chronic illnesses. 

Danbury Job Requirements:

  • MD or DO with Connecticut State and Federal Narcotic Use Registration
  • Preferred: Prior experience as a staff physician or Hospitalist but new Residents are encouraged to apply
  • Have successfully completed an Internal Medicine
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Willingness to work variable 12-hour shifts 8 PM – 8 AM including about two weekends per month for a total of about 15 shifts per month. Typical schedule is 4 on 3 off, then 3 on 4 off

Norwalk Job Requirements:

  • MD or DO with Connecticut State and Federal Narcotic Use Registration
  • Preferred: Prior experience as a staff physician, but new grads are encouraged to apply
  • Have successfully completed an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Residency
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Available to work independently full time night shifts including weekends. 7 PM – 7 AM. 5 on 5 off about 15 shifts per month. Hours: 40 control hours
