The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) Cancer Institute (CI) and the Division of Hematology/Oncology is seeking an experienced Phase 1 investigator to establish and grow a Phase 1 program.
The Phase 1 investigator will draw from more than a dozen CI interdisciplinary teams and will be responsible for managing patients on Phase 1 trials. The successful candidate will be an experienced Medical Oncologist or Hematologist with a demonstrated track record in performing Phase 1 trials. Faculty rank and appointment will be commensurate with accomplishments. Emphasis is placed on the ability to foster interaction between laboratory and clinical investigators, participate in interdisciplinary clinical trial teams, and participate in the CI’s teaching mission.
The CI closely collaborates with the National Center for Natural Products Research at the University’s main campus in Oxford and supports a Cancer Drug Discovery Core there. UMMC has developed a Clinical Research Support Program (CRSP) that manages all aspects of clinical trials and is opening a Phase 1 treatment unit in the hospital. UMMC is the state’s only academic medical center.
The area has an excellent quality of life and low cost of living.
