The Department of Pediatrics at Duke University School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level in the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology as a dual hire with the Duke Clinical Research Institute. Candidates should be physician-scientists with a primary interest in clinical research and complementary clinical practice.

The Division of Pediatric Rheumatology has a long history of strong clinical research and the Duke Clinical Research Institute is the largest academic research organization in the world and serves as the coordinating center for numerous CARRA clinical studies including the CARRA Registry.  We seek to continue to expand our research programs, and a high priority will be placed on creativity in clinical research and potential for independent funding.  The position will be supported by protected research effort, the research resources of the DCRI, and a strong mentoring program.

Our division provides comprehensive care for children with pediatric rheumatic disease including multidisciplinary clinics in SLE, inflammatory brain disease, juvenile dermatomyositis, and scleroderma. Our busy outpatient clinic provides specialized care to children referred from North Carolina and 5 states in the Southeast. The division consists of 5 full time faculty and has trained pediatric rheumatology fellows for over 25 years. Faculty members in the division are active in clinical care, clinical research, translational research, and education.
