The Department of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City seeks a well-funded clinical immunologist, with an MD or MD/PhD and a significant research portfolio, to become Division Chief of a dynamic division that is actively involved in basic and translational science discoveries being made throughout the Mount Sinai Health System.
The Division Chief is responsible for the overall management of the Division of Clinical Immunology; including the development of an academically oriented training program, growth of the clinical program, expansion of the basic research program, and the maintenance of a financially viable program and the enhancement of the clinical and scientific status of the Division.
The chief will:
- Be responsible for all teaching aspects of the Division regarding medical students, house staff, fellowship training, and continuing medical education. The educational program should include bedside training, didactic sessions, preparation of conferences, and a written core curriculum. The Division Chief is responsible for developing a curriculum and educational goals consistent with the objectives recommended by Residency Review Committee guidelines;
- Develop and maintain fellowship training programs that comply with ABIM and Residency Review Committee requirements in anticipation of future site visits and official evaluations of such programs. Including maintaining an appropriate volume of patients, inpatient and outpatient experiences, teaching, research, and documented periodic trainee evaluation;
- Develop and/or maintain an NIH funded research program including leadership in a Program Project or Center Grant application, successfully competing for an NIH training grant, and the development of K (mentored) awardees;
- Fostering the career development of junior faculty members by mentoring and example.
- Grow the inpatient and outpatient clinical services, including faculty practice;
- Organize and manage physician coverage, teaching, and the organizational aspects of the division’s clinic;
- Recruit clinical and research faculty.
Appointment to the full-time faculty would be at either the Associate Professor or Professor rank, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
