Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Dermatology is expanding and seeking faculty MOHS surgeon. These positions involve the practice of clinical MOHS dermatology, as well as teaching dermatology residents, primary care residents, and medical students. Teaching has been at the heart of the division since its inception, and they continually strive to enhance their dermatology residency program, which includes two residents per year.  Although the most immediate need is in general dermatology, there are opportunities in subspecialties or other areas of special interest.

The Internal Medicine Department – Division of Dermatology’s current faculty consists of three general dermatologists, one dermatologist/derma pathologist, two Mohs surgeons, one nurse practitioner, and an adjunct pediatric dermatologist. The faculty enjoy a friendly and collegial environment and maintain the belief that providing high quality, ethical care takes precedence over other considerations, which creates a sense of comradery and compassion among their faculty members.

The Department of Internal Medicine is committed to the mission of the School of Medicine to assist the people of central and southern Illinois in meeting their health-care needs through education, patient care, research, and service to the community. Founded in 1970, SIU has received national and international recognition for innovation in medical education and offers a welcoming environment for dedicated clinicians who love to teach. Memorial Medical Center and St. John’s Hospital, both 500-bed community hospitals, serve the community and are teaching sites for SIU-SOM. In May 2015, Memorial Medical Center opened the new Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation, expanding SIU’s vision to be a national leader for excellence in healthcare learning through skills training and simulation labs. SIU SOM is also affiliated with Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL which is 45 minutes from Springfield. This position will dedicate a minimum of two days per week in Decatur in a new building with state-of-the-art equipment.

Qualifications: Must have a MD or DO degree and be board eligible/board certified by the American Board of Dermatology. Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in the state of Illinois.
