Medical Director

The Florida Poison Information Center and TeamHealth are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Medical Toxicologist/Emergency Medicine physician. The successful candidate will serve as Associate Medical Director of The Florida Poison Information Center in Tampa (0.5 FTE), and up to (0.50 FTE) as an Emergency Physician at Tampa General Hospital. We provide the Emergency Medicine staffing for Tampa General Hospital. The duties of the Associate Medical Director will include guidelines development, quality assurance, health professions education and outreach, media interactions, and developing research as well as assisting in the development of an inpatient toxicology consulting service.

This facility is has new Emergency and Trauma Center, which opened Nov 2007. Including six trauma rooms, one dedicated to pediatric patients, 66 treatment rooms and two operating rooms. This location has 83,000 High Acuity adult visits annually, along with 24-hour trauma, stroke, and cardiac alert teams. Chest Pain Observation program for low risk cardiac patients also at this location. 91 hours of ED physician coverage daily (7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 hour shifts) as well as 29.5 hours of mid-level ED coverage daily.
