The Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston, Texas is seeking to recruit an outstanding physician-scientist to become its next Chief of the Section of Infectious Diseases. The successful applicant is expected to be an experienced clinician with extramural research funding and a track-record of mentoring. The BCM Section of Infectious Diseases has a total of 33 faculty, nine clinical fellows, and 29 research staff and post-doctoral fellows. It has practice and research sites at CHI Baylor St Luke's Medical Center, the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, the Ben Taub Hospital of Harris Health, and the Pavilion for Women at Texas Children's Hospital. Research is conducted in collaboration with the world-renowned BCM Departments of Molecular and Viral Microbiology and Genetics; the National School of Tropical Medicine; and the Houston Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness, and Safety. It includes innovative laboratory discoveries and technology, epidemiology and population health, clinical innovations and patient safety. Section faculty are supported by NIH, CDC, USDA, and VA grants. This position provides the opportunity to lead a section that makes substantial contributions across clinical, education, and research activities.
