Virginia Commonwealth University Infectious Disease/Microbiology-Immunology Physician Scientist (F56250).

The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at Virginia Commonwealth University jointly invites applicants for a tenure eligible position as a physician scientist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level studying the molecular basis of microbial pathogenesis. The successful candidate should hold an MD or MD/PhD degree and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Infectious Disease. Applicants should have interdisciplinary research interests that complement and expand existing expertise in both departments.

Research areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, investigation of mechanisms of microbial pathogenesis, host-pathogen interactions, genomics, microbiome studies, innovative therapeutics/mechanisms of antimicrobial action and/or resistance and public health epidemiology. Ongoing or anticipated external research funding such as R01 or equivalent funding is expected. Startup resources and compensation are available commensurate with experience.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
