Currently recruiting an Occupational Health Physician in Havelock, North Carolina, near the picturesque beaches of the Southern Outer Banks to provide care to active-duty heroes and their families in the Occupational Health Clinic at Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point. The successful candidate will be Board Certified in Occupational Medicine. The Occupational Health Physician position is full-time offering an excellent work/life balance with 40-hr weeks, Monday-Friday scheduled between 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Services are normally not required on holidays.

Minutes from the beaches of the southern Outer Banks, this low-cost-of-living area is surrounded by the spectacular outdoor offerings (beaches, golf course, parks, bike trails, hiking, Croatan National Forest, some of the best fishing in the country, etc.).

DUTIES OF THE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH PHYSICIAN:

  • Provide a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the clinic's Commanding Officer.
  • Technically direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of, other health care professionals seeing patients within the scope of their clinical privileges or responsibilities.
  • Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
  • ​Provide limited medical services to employees for non-occupational conditions which entail the provision of minor treatment to enable the employee to safely and comfortably complete that work shift.
  • Render all available emergency procedures and treatment to stabilize a patient in cases of serious illness or injury.
  • Facilitate, as required, referral to the patient's private physician for definitive medical care of chronic or serious emergency conditions.
  • Prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH PHYSICIAN:

  • Be a graduate from a medical school approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association or certification by the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
  • Have successful completion of a residency program in Occupational Medicine which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association or those Canadian training programs approved by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or other appropriate Canadian medical authority.
  • Possess a minimum of two years of experience in an Occupational Medicine setting within the preceding five years, or have completed an Occupational Medicine residency training program within the preceding two years.
  • Possess current, valid, unrestricted license in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Possess certification in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.
  • Possess and maintain a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration number (certificate) to prescribe controlled substances as listed in 21 C.F.R. 1308.
  • Possess Board Certification Occupational Medicine.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (for access to Government computer systems)
