The Northwell Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks Board Certified/Board Eligible MD’s or MD-Ph.D. Physicians to join our team as a potential Blood Bank Medical Director at affiliate hospitals in the Nassau and Brooklyn regions of New York. Required qualifications include Board certification in Clinical Pathology (CP, with joint AP/CP certification preferred); accredited fellowship training in Transfusion Medicine (to include stem cell retrieval and apheresis) with Board certification in Transfusion Medicine; and a minimum of 3 years post-fellowship experience, preferably with at least 2 years as a Director or Associate Director of a Blood Bank. The preferred individuals would have demonstrated leadership and management abilities, including experience in support of oncology, hematology, trauma, pediatric, and obstetric programs. 

Highlights include:

  • Provide visible and accessible leadership and oversee all operations of the respective hospital Blood Bank.
  • Serve as the liaison with the Northwell Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Laboratory Service Line.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements of CAP, AABB, New York State Department of Health, and other regulatory agencies. 
  • Provide leadership with respect to patient safety and quality, blood bank/transfusion medicine policies and procedures and operational performance of the blood bank.

Salary Disclosure

Full-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125K to $750K, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, level of experience, quality of care, academic accomplishments, patient experience and productivity. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
