The Department of Medicine at Stanford University is recruiting a full-time Senior Research Scientist and Clinical Assistant Professor to investigate the metabolic risk for coronary heart disease and adult onset diabetes, especially in high risk populations (e.g. those of South Asian ancestry). Given the long tradition of research in this Division investigating the role of insulin resistance as a primary risk for these human diseases, preference will be given to applicants who have had extensive experience with state-of-the-art methods for quantifying insulin resistance and secretion, e.g., use of euglycemic clamp (or insulin suppression test) and graded glucose infusion. Candidates should have a robust track record of meritorious scientific publications, experience in several related areas of clinical translational research including organizing and executing clinical trials focused on human physiology (including assessment of insulin resistance and related conditions), patient recruitment and retention, biobanking, database management, and manuscript preparation. The applicant should have demonstrated the ability to train young investigators and incorporate them in the research group. This individual will be expected to contribute to funded research efforts focused in this area, and to help with teaching activities in the Division and the Department of Medicine. This position requires the applicant have an MD degree and Board Certification in Internal Medicine and be capable of contributing significantly to the patient care mission of the Division.

The major criterion for appointment, reappointment and promotion for Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care and clinical teaching appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

Submit CV and a brief letter of interest to Dr. Thomas Quertermous, Chief, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine: http://facultyapplication.stanford.edu
