Appointment of Dean for the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences

Queen’s is one of the leading universities in the UK and Ireland, with a distinguished heritage and history. With an annual turnover in excess of £300 million, over 23,000 students, and 3,700 staff, it plays a unique leadership role in Northern Ireland. As a member of the Russell Group of UK research-intensive universities, Queen’s combines excellence in research and education with a student-centred ethos. Having invested more than £100 million in research infrastructure, buildings, equipment, and facilities on the Health Sciences Campus, Queen’s is seeking to appoint a Dean for the School of Medicine, Dentistry, and Biomedical Sciences.

The next Dean will be a clinically qualified academic with an internationally recognised research record, who will advance research through the new Institute for Health Sciences. They will ensure the delivery of outstanding modern medical, dental, and biomedical sciences curricula, consistent with the stated educational objectives of the General Medical Council, General Dental Council, and the Institute for Biomedical Sciences respectively. The post holder will lead an ambitious growth strategy and influence and engage with government, the health services, and industry. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a considerable difference to the future well-being of the region.
