   Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center is a state verified Level II Trauma Center located in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and part of the Geisinger Health System which has additional trauma centers in Scranton and Danville.

 

In addition to providing coverage of the trauma service and surgical critical care, there is an active emergency general surgery service, with dedicated OR time. The trauma program is supported by a surgical residency program, with four residents per year. There are four Physician’s Assistants assisting with the care of the patients in both the inpatient setting, and in the trauma/emergency general surgery clinic.

There is also the opportunity to conduct clinical research. Our newest addition -the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine located in Northeast Pennsylvania

The physician-led system is comprised of approximately 30,000 employees, including nearly 1,600 employed physicians, 12 hospital campuses, two research centers and a 510,000-member health plan, all of which leverage an estimated $8.9 billion positive impact on the Pennsylvania economy.
