As an Area Medical Director, you will oversee clinical operations for your assigned clinics approximately 40% of the time, and provide clinical addiction medicine patient care approximately 60% of the time (40% from a base clinic, 20% from an assigned center within your area). Additionally, you will supervise both Addiction Medicine Physicians, and Advanced Practice Clinicians (NPs and PAs) who provide patient care within an OBOT (Office Based Opioid Treatment) clinical setting. You will be tasked to provide leadership, direction and supportive medical judgment to the clinical team, and ensure comprehensive delivery of services and quality patient care.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the clinic operations to ensure the corporate goals of service, associate engagement, patient experience are accomplished and maintain a culture that focuses on quality medical care and customer service
  • Provide medical care to patients approximately 60%
    • 40% in an identified home clinic
    • 20% remotely within the area medical director's assigned clinics
  • Provide quality and utilization review of charts in each center, and maintain quality assurance for all clinical delivery and clinical quality issues, assisting in the solution of any medical problems
  • Communicate and work with medical staff to ensure coordinated efforts for the provision of high quality medical treatment and client service
    • Attend meetings in-person and remotely as a function of quality review and to support clinical culture
  • Assist center, regional and corporate management in identifying, analyzing and resolving work problems
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing clinical methods and procedures and suggest improvements
  • Support in the orientation of new staff, as well as staff understanding of and compliance with company ethical, legal / regulatory, and professional policies and procedures
  • Assist in recruitment of physicians and physician assistants as necessary
  • Direct, review and evaluate performance of physicians and physician assistants
  • Serve as a liaison between the medical staff and administrator/corporate management
  • Contribute solutions to intra- and inter-departmental problems, mediating professional disputes and problems as needed
  • Support efforts of administrative and marketing personnel in securing new and maintaining current business as required
  • Assist, as required, in resolution of client grievances regarding medical issues
Qualifications
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from a U.S. accredited institution
  • Previous experience in Addiction Medicine
  • Current license to practice medicine in the State where the center is located
  • Current Controlled Substances Registration certificate from the Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Department of Justice
    • Hold an X-Waiver with the DEA
  • Board Certification in Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Family Practice (preferred)
  • Skill in developing and maintaining medical quality assurance and quality control standards, maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the general public, motivating, and working effectively with others
  • Ability to react calmly, objectively and effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients, staff and clients, including the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals  
  • Flexibility in working hours
  • Effectively resolve conflicts as they arise
  • Travel up to 25% of time
