The University of California, Los Angeles invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery as a full-time Tenured Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine. This position is eligible for the W. Eugene Stern Endowed Chair in Neurosurgery.

Consistently ranked among the top neurosurgery departments in the country, the department is deeply committed to its quadripartite mission of providing excellent patient care, translating innovative research into medical breakthroughs, engaging the community, and educating future academic neurosurgeon leaders. With the Brain Injury Research Center, the Stroke Center (one of eight centers funded by an NIH SPOTRIAS grant), the Brain Tumor Program, the Spine Center and programs such as neuromodulation and neural repair, the department is engaged in exciting collaborative research and personalized care.

UCLA seeks an outstanding neurosurgeon who will work collaboratively with the leadership of the David Geffen School of Medicine and UCLA Health to advance the missions of the department and the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have an international reputation in one of the disciplines of neurosurgery, national recognition for neurosurgical research accomplishments, exceptional leadership skills, a deep commitment to diversity and excellence, and a strong record in teaching and mentorship. Candidates must have an MD degree, board certification, possess academic credentials appropriate for a tenured faculty appointment, and be eligible for licensure in California.
