Description:
The Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, is offering a one-year AST/ASN accredited Transplant Nephrology Fellowship position for the academic year 2017-2018.
The Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University is a national leader in organ transplantation for over 40 years with very active kidney and kidney-pancreas, heart and liver transplant programs, first liver transplant in Philadelphia. The Transplant Program is currently staffed by six Certified Transplant Nephrologists who follow the patient for the life of the organ, five Transplant Surgeons, and a full complement of ancillary professionals including pharmacists, social workers, and Transplant Immunology personnel.
The Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, transplant nephrology program provides in-depth experience in transplant patient care, education, and clinical research. Inpatient and outpatient care includes post-operative management of kidney and pancreas transplant recipients, consultation in liver and heart transplant candidates and recipients, and outpatient evaluation of post-transplant recipients, living donors, and recipient candidates. Lectures are provided by basic and clinical scientists and expert clinicians on immunology, pharmacology, pathology, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, metabolic bone disease, and infectious disease topics along with sessions on post-operative and maintenance transplant care. The Transplant Fellow will participate in a year-long transplant core curriculum and also attend journal club and grand round presentations.
Requirements
Candidates must have an MD degree (or equivalent) and have successfully finished a formal nephrology fellowship program by the start of the Nephrology Transplant Fellowship Program, July 1, 2017. Foreign medical graduates must be ECFMG-certified and be eligible for J-1 Visa sponsorship. Fellows receive a salary and benefits package along with an allowance for program related expenses.
