Job Details

Merritt Hawkins’ Division of Academics is honored to partner with the Department of Radiation Oncology for these critical recruitment needs. We represent two outstanding opportunities for radiation oncologists to come into Wake Forest and a make an impact immediately. These positions require a well-trained individual, who has excellent interpersonal skills, strong motivation in clinical radiation oncology, and a desire to work in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate should be ABR certified or board eligible.

LUNG CANCER | RADIATION ONCOLOGY
On the main campus at Wake Forest we seek a rising star that would like to focus their clinical and research practice in the area of thoracic malignancies and lung cancer. Wake Forest has a busy thoracic surgery program with 475 new diagnoses each year. Work with a strong multidisciplinary team that includes thoracic surgeons, pathologists, interventional pulmonologists, and medical oncologists, all with a special focus on lung/thoracic care. We have personalized genomic medicine, we are a lung cancer screening Center of Excellence, and we have a strong clinical trial infrastructure already in place. We seek someone that wants to be part of this team. There is a strong referral and established patient base for this incoming physician.

GENERAL | RADIATION ONCOLOGY
The Department of Radiation Oncology has affiliated satellite practices around the Winston-Salem area. This allows patients who may not be able to travel to the University Hospital on a daily basis, to receive high-quality cancer care closer to home. Our affiliations strengthen the ties between community physicians and Wake Forest University Health Sciences faculty. We seek a faculty member to be located at one of the regional hospitals and cancer center. An ideal candidate for this position does not want to specialize their practice and can be a clinical expert in a myriad of therapy options available there on-site. The expectation as a faculty member of Wake Forest, still includes teaching and clinical research.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Possess exceptional teamwork and mentorship abilities, as there will be substantial teaching of fellows and residents
  • Exceptional surgeon that is experienced in robotics or willing to learn
  • Ability to also lead thoracic surgery at the VA and work with the current surgeon to establish two new markets for the university
  • A record of academic interests and accomplishments in clinical research or surgical education

NORTH CAROLINA:
The city is a vibrant community with an exciting cultural environment nestled in beautiful North Carolina, within easy driving distance to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and the pristine beaches of our coastline. This, coupled with a low cost of living, excellent schools, and abundant recreational opportunities makes living here an easy decision.
