The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks a Renal Pathologist to join the Northwell Health System. The ideal candidate must be board certified in Anatomic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology (or equivalent) and renal pathology subspecialty training is required. A commitment to teaching and academic effort as part of the joint pathology, nephrology, and surgery programs also is strongly preferred.

Highlights include:

  • Provide visible and accessible leadership for the Health System’s renal pathology program and oversee technical renal pathology services of the associated laboratories
  • Possess ability to develop and grow the renal pathology program within the health system and community
  • Exercise efforts to support and promote new advancements and technologies within the field
  • Provide strong clinical integration and support with health system clinicians and hospitals

Northwell Health includes 21 award-winning hospitals and more than 450 community-based practice locations throughout Long Island, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Westchester. Strong nephrology programs are in place, both adult and pediatric, along with renal transplantation which is performed at North Shore University Hospital (NSUH). An estimated 400 medical or transplant renal biopsies will be performed in 2016. Northwell has robust technical support services for renal pathology, including a licensed electron microscopy laboratory at the NSUH site.  In turn, the Department of Pathology is part of the Northwell Health Laboratory Service Line, which is a highly integrated regional network  serving not only the Northwell hospitals and a growing number of affiliate hospitals but also as a major regional reference laboratory for the greater New York metropolitan area.

Academic appointment to the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine is commensurate with credentials and experience.

Salary Disclosure

Full-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125K to $750K, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, level of experience, quality of care, academic accomplishments, patient experience and productivity. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
