Description:
The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Infectious Diseases at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans, is seeking a full-time academic Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialist to join our infectious diseases faculty group. The Department of Pediatrics at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans is dedicated to excellence in patient care, mastery in teaching, and continuous learning. The Department boasts approximately eighty faculty members representing all pediatric sub-specialties. Training programs include an annual medical school class of two hundred and approximately one hundred post-graduate trainees in categorical pediatrics, medicine-pediatrics, child neurology, combined pediatrics and emergency medicine, and most pediatric sub-specialty fellowship areas.
Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Clinical Pediatrics (non-tenure, clinical track) depending on prior experience. The successful candidate will participate in a broad range of pediatric infectious disease activities. Primary clinical responsibilities of the position include patient care and consultations in a variety of settings including inpatient consultations at Children's Hospital of New Orleans and other local hospitals as well as outpatient clinics. In addition, participation and leadership of hospital efforts in infection control and/or antibiotic stewardship are expected job components. Educational responsibilities include supervision and instruction of medical students, residents, and other learners from the multi-disciplinary LSUHSC community. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the advancement of scholarly or educational activities within the Department. There are abundant opportunities for educational, clinical, translational, and quality and outcomes research initiatives across the health sciences center.
The Department of Pediatrics and Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases are located predominantly at Children's Hospital of New Orleans. Children’s Hospital is Louisiana’s only free standing children’s hospital. The 247-bed tertiary care teaching and clinical care complex is located in the heart of New Orleans. Children’s is in the beginning stages of a five-year and $225 million expansion project.
Qualifications
- MD or MD/PhD or equivalent
- Board certified/board eligible in Pediatric Infectious Diseases
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana by start date
