Academic Medical Intensivist Opportunity in Southern California

Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Department of Internal Medicine - The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Loma Linda University is seeking an Emergency Medicine Medical Intensivist to expand our academic faculty. The position will include dual faculty appointments in the Department of Medicine and Department of Emergency Medicine, with clinical practice in both MICU and ED settings.

Loma Linda University Medical Center is a tertiary care, Level 1 trauma center, and academic institution with a 650-bed hospital. The 36-bed MICU is divided in two multidisciplinary teams, including Pulmonary/Critical Care fellows and residents from Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine. The 51-bed ED includes approximately 70,000 annual adult and pediatric patient visits with 2,500 ICU admissions.

The candidate will join an academic division that includes faculty at three locations, Loma Linda University Medical Center, Loma Linda VA Medical Center, and Riverside University Medical Center. Our training program matriculates three pulmonary and critical care fellows per year with plans to develop a two-year medical critical care fellowship.

Our research and academic interests include high altitude medicine, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, ultrasound-guided bronchoscopy, critical care ultrasound, sedation management, pulmonary hypertension, sleep disorders, hyperbaric medicine, sepsis, hemodynamic monitoring, critical care procedures, biomarker discovery, ethics, and humanities in medicine.

We invite applications for a faculty position at the Clinical Instructor level or above. Candidates should possess academic interests, research aptitude, be residency trained and board eligible in Internal Medicine and/or Emergency Medicine, and have completed fellowship training in Medicine Critical Care. Experience or interest in telemedicine would be highly recruited.

Loma Linda is a family-oriented suburban community 60 miles East of Los Angeles. It is located one hour from ocean beaches, Lake Arrowhead, Big Bear Lake, ski resorts, Palm Springs, and four international airports.
