Department of Labor and Industries is the 3rd largest payer of health care services in the State of Washington and the Office of the Medical Director (OMD) is responsible for overseeing the provision of quality health care services to injured workers and crime victims.

As the Associate Medical Director for Quality Improvement, you will provide clinical expertise, peer review, and health policy expertise to the OMD staff, claims staff, health services analysis staff, expert committees, and external stakeholders.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Provide clinical leadership and assistance in collaborative efforts with Washington State health agencies; other state agencies, public and private health organizations
  • In coordination with OMD lead policy staff, formulate and oversee health policy projects and programs.
  • Coordinate efforts with OMD task leads on agency development of evidence based policies and guidelines on occupational diseases, and injuries.
  • Provide leadership for health policy, analysis and development, program implementation, and health care innovation and quality improvement.
  • Provide professional guidance and clinical training.
  • Coordinate or consult on analysis related to medical consultants, provider qualifications, provider review, utilization review, billing policy, statutory and regulatory review, and the review of health care services.

Who should apply
Medical Professionals with a valid State of Washington Medical License and three years' experience in medical, occupational health, quality improvement leadership in an institution or organization, or another specialty area relevant to the care of injured workers, e.g. Rehabilitation Medicine, Pain Medicine.

Additional preferred qualification: Board certification, with at least three years' experience in the field and/or a Master's degree or PhD in Public Health or related health field. (Epidemiology, Health Administration, Health Services Research is preferred).
