The Northwell Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks a Board Certified/Board Eligible MD or MD-PhD Physician to join our team as an Assoc. Medical Director of Clinical Laboratories at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, NY.

Lenox Hill Hospital (LHH), established in 1857, is a 652-bed, acute care hospital located on Manhattan's Upper East Side, which has earned a national reputation for outstanding patient care and innovative medical and surgical treatments. The hospital is particularly well known for excellence in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, orthopedics, sports medicine, otolaryngology/head and neck surgery, and maternal/child health. As part of the Northwell Health system efforts, cancer services also are growing rapidly at LHH.  The hospital is also a recognized leader in public health education and community outreach and has a national reputation for providing outstanding medical care and medical education.

Located right off tree-lined Park Avenue in Manhattan, Lenox Hill Hospital is only steps from the beauty and serenity of Central Park, diverse restaurants, Museum Mile and the world-famous shopping district on Madison Avenue. Lenox Hill is easily accessible by the #6 train servicing the east side, Brooklyn and the Bronx with easy transfers to the west side as well. Candidates must be board certified, have an established expertise in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, a strong commitment to teaching, and must possess or be eligible to obtain New York State Certificates of Qualification for Medical Directorship.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Medical Director, provide visible and accessible leadership and oversee all operations of the clinical laboratories.
  • Serve as a liaison with the Northwell Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Laboratory Service Line.
  • Help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements of CAP, State of New York Department of Health, and other regulatory agencies. 
  • Provide leadership with respect to patient safety and quality, laboratory test utilization, and operational performance of the laboratories.

Salary Disclosure

Full-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125K to $750K, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, level of experience, quality of care, academic accomplishments, patient experience and productivity. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
