The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Pulmonary Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician-educator track or the tenure track. Applicants must have an MDor MD/PhD degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education, research, and clinical care. Candidates must be Board certified/eligible in Pulmonary Medicine.
The Division of Pulmonary Medicine at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia invites applications for an outstanding laboratory and/or clinical investigator. We are seeking an individual who is interested in utilizing the robust research environment in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute (http://www.research.chop.edu). The Division of Pulmonary Medicine is a vibrant and interactive environment with 21 faculty members, approximately six trainees, and more than 70 staff. The Division encompasses two Centers (Sleep and Cystic Fibrosis), as well as five programs (Transplant, Technology Dependence, Aerodigestive, Thoracic Insufficiency, and Asthma). CHOP ranks No.2 on the U.S. News 2016 Honor Roll of the Best Children’s Hospitals.
Current funded research in the Division includes control of breathing and upper airway physiology, management of childhood obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, ion transport and intracellular trafficking of CFTR, lung mechanics measurements in children with congenital diaphragmatic hernia and thoracic insufficiency syndrome, pulmonary complications of sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis related diabetes, preschool lung function testing and oscillation mechanics, transplant immunology and genome-wide array studies related to airway growth.
Applicants should have an interest in understanding the cellular and molecular basis of disease as it relates broadly to pulmonary diseases in children, with an outstanding record of research productivity. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary/start-up package and be expected to lead a creative, independent and externally-funded program of research.
