   Clinical Director, Genetics and Genomics

 

Geisinger Health System is seeking a senior (associate, full professor equivalent) board-certified Clinical Geneticist to serve as Clinical Director for Geisinger Health System’s Department of Genetics, joining a team of nationally recognized leaders in genetics and genomics.

 

The ideal candidate will be a physician leader with sound clinical and interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive within a complex health system. Geisinger Health System is a learning health system, the ideal candidate will have demonstrable expertise in education and research.  The position is based at Geisinger Medical Center, Geisinger’s flagship academic campus located in Danville, Pa. but the supervisory responsibilities will be system-wide.

 

The Genomic Medicine Institute team includes three clinical genetics physicians, a CRNP and genetic counselors. The clinical director will provide clinical support, expand our busy practice and would work with pediatric and system-leadership to develop a strategic vision for clinical genetic services across the organization.

 

Geisinger Health System has emphasized genomics as part of the clinical and research strategic plans. Through a collaboration with Regeneron 250,000 Geisinger patients (adult and pediatric) will have whole exome sequencing performed over the next five years. Nearly 53,000 sequences have been completed, providing an outstanding resource for genomic research and an opportunity to return results for highly penetrant Mendelian disorders.
