Location: Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, PA Geisinger Health System is seeking a board certified/board eligible, Emergency Medicine trained physician for the role of Assistant Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV), located in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Join a team of 11 Emergency Medicine staff Physicians and enjoy additional coverage through the department’s Advanced Practice Providers, Pharmacists, and Scribes. Practice state-of-the-art medicine with excellent sub-specialty backup and enjoy high acuity, hands-on medicine in Geisinger Health System’s busiest Emergency Department (ED), with over 54,000 visits annually. The Assistant Medical Director will provide leadership and management for the Emergency Department, working cooperatively with the ED Medical Director, Operations Manager, nursing staff and other departments to provide emergency services for all patients who present to the ED. The Assistant Medical Director will report to the Medical Director of the GWV ED. The ED at GWV houses a total of 32 beds including: 24 acute, 3 trauma, and 5 acute/isolation. In addition, providers have access to 24 hour imaging services, point-of-care lab services, pharmacist coverage (16 hours/day), and care management all within the department. The hospital is currently an accredited Level II Trauma Center and holds a Level I Heart Attack Program.
