The University of Kentucky is one of few universities in the nation to have all six health science colleges (Medicine, Dentistry, Health Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health) all on one campus and is well-positioned to pursue inter-professional health care education and collaborative research. UK has developed a 20-year, $2.5 billion plan to construct an innovative academic medical campus to advance the growth of research and health education university-wide.

The College of Medicine, located in scenic Lexington, Kentucky, consists of seven basic science departments, 17 clinical departments, and 19 interdisciplinary centers/institutes/programs. The UK Markey Cancer Center was designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in 2013, becoming the only NCI-designated cancer center in the state. KCH is the regional referral and pediatric care center for Central and Eastern Kentucky, with more than 70 pediatric sub-specialists and over 300 pediatric nurses as well as respiratory therapists, dietitians, social workers, and pharmacists, all of whom are dedicated to caring for children.

DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS
The Department of Pediatrics consists of over 90 faculty members and is composed of subspecialty divisions in adolescent medicine, ambulatory, cardiology, child abuse/forensics, child advocacy, child psychiatry, community pediatrics, critical care, endocrinology, gastroenterology, genetics/metabolism, general pediatrics, hematology/oncology, hospital pediatrics, infectious disease, neonatology, nephrology, neurology, pediatric surgery, pulmonary, radiology, research, rheumatology, and school health. The Department of Pediatrics has an outstanding training program in General Pediatrics and three combined training programs: 1) Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, 2) Adult Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry, and 3) Child Neurology. UK Pediatrics also offers unique programs directed at child advocacy and international health.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The University of Kentucky College of Medicine seeks a visionary Chair with demonstrated leadership abilities, a strong record in academic medicine, ideally with current or previous record of funded research, with administrative experience as a division chief or program/center director who could provide strong leadership skills as a listener, decision-maker, humanist, and effective advocate for the discipline in the department of Pediatrics and its faculty.
