The Department of Epidemiology and the Section of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan is recruiting for the position of Medical Director of Hospital Epidemiology. We are seeking an outstanding physician to lead comprehensive epidemiology, and infection prevention and control activities with the assistance of our associate epidemiologist and our director of infection prevention and control. In addition to this role, successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching of medical students, residents, and infectious diseases fellows, and to provide exemplary and compassionate care to patients. The successful candidate will also be expected to take advantage of research and professional development opportunities within Beaumont Health and the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. All applicants are required to have board certification in internal medicine and infectious diseases; preferred candidates will also have a Master of Public Health or related degree and at least five years of experience in hospital epidemiology and infection control and prevention. Compensation and academic appointment will be commensurate with experience. Beaumont, Royal Oak is the major teaching affiliate of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. At 1082 beds, it is the largest of the eight hospitals comprising Beaumont Health. It is nationally ranked in nine medical specialties with a broad range of services including solid organ transplant, level I adult trauma care, comprehensive microbiology and molecular microbiology laboratories, and an infectious diseases research laboratory. The Section of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine consists of 21 physicians and a two-year fellowship program. Specialty areas within the section include transplant infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, HCV, antimicrobial stewardship, immunology, and travel medicine.
