Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) seeks candidates for the position of Chair, Department of Surgery. As one of the nation's leading comprehensive medical schools, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in education, research, healthcare delivery, and the promotion of community health. In cooperation with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, the medical school's principal affiliate, they comprise New Jersey's premier academic medical center. In addition, RWJMS has 34 hospital affiliates and ambulatory care sites throughout the region. Furthermore, new opportunities may emerge from the recent merger of the Robert Wood Johnson Health System and Barnabas Health, creating the largest health system in New Jersey: RWJ Barnabas Health. The successful candidate should be able to operate and lead within this complex environment and will have the opportunity to grow both the academic and community based programs at the Medical School. To qualify, you must have an MD degree; be board certified and eligible for licensure in the State of New Jersey; and be of national stature with demonstrable leadership qualities. You must also have demonstrated success in promoting excellent teaching, scholarship, and research, as well as developing, managing, and implementing clinical programs.
