Faculty Position – Gut Microbiome related to Cancer
The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division (VIDD) at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch) is recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Assistant Member or Associate Member level in the Physician/Scientist pathway. The individual will be expected to develop his or her own independent laboratory research program in the field of the gut microbiome as it relates to cancer. Candidates must demonstrate a prior record of laboratory or clinical research work in the microbiome, a track record of high quality peer-reviewed publications, as well as evidence of competitive funding potential in independent research. This will be a full-time faculty position based at the Fred Hutch with the possibility of future joint appointment at the University of Washington.
Applicants must have an MD, PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent, expertise in research related to the human microbiome, and a desire to apply this knowledge to advance the Fred Hutch mission of treating and preventing infectious diseases and cancer.
We offer a highly collaborative and diverse research environment, generous start-up, modern laboratory space, and state-of-the-art core facilities. Our program supports research activities that span the entire spectrum from basic to clinical biomedical research.
The Fred Hutch offers a vibrant intellectual environment within a beautiful lakeside campus in Seattle’s South Lake Union biotech hub. The Fred Hutch campus contains five major research buildings along with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and is in close proximity to major research partners such as the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle Children’s Research Institute, Center for Infectious Disease Research Institute (formerly Seattle Biomedical Research Institute), and the Infectious Disease Research Institute. VIDD integrates clinical care, computational methods, basic and translational research to reduce the global burden of infectious diseases.
Interested candidates should submit a CV, a concise research plan statement, and the names and contact information for three (3) references to: fredhutch.org/job/8374.
Applications should be received by December 31, 2016 to assure consideration. Later applications may also be considered if the position has not been filled.
