Summary of Opportunity

The Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM), Section of Rheumatology announces the search for an academically oriented Rheumatologist to join our section in the Department of Medicine. Currently, the Rheumatology Section consists of eight faculty members. The Rheumatology Clinic cares for a diverse patient population with a wide range of rheumatic diseases, including large numbers of patients with lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. The Section of Rheumatology provides care for outpatients with musculoskeletal disorders. Patients are seen every day, and there is a weekly Lupus Clinic. Several ongoing research projects are underway using samples from Rheumatology patients. An onsite Infusion Center facilitates administration of biological and other intravenous therapy and also benefits clinical research. The Section is also responsible for inpatient consultations in Rheumatology at Temple University Hospital.

The faculty physician is expected to contribute to teaching Rheumatology fellows by taking part in educational activities, to take part in ongoing clinical research projects, and to care for Rheumatology patients in the newly renovated and modern Medical Office Building. The successful candidate will be board eligible/board certified in Rheumatology and interested in pursuing or continuing a career in an academic environment. Rank and compensation commensurate with experience.

Candidate Qualifications

  • An MD (DO) or MD/PhD with board eligibility or board certification in Rheumatology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to the culture, needs, and aspirations of the community.
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
