The Pulmonary and Critical Care Division at the Dorn Veterans Administration Medical Center (Dorn VAMC) located in Columbia, SC is recruiting BE/BC Critical Care or Pulmonary Physicians to an excellent academic pulmonary service with an affiliation with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care.

Come join a thriving practice of four pulmonary/critical care physicians. Duties include intensive care unit inpatient services, inpatient pulmonary/critical care consults, and outpatient pulmonary medicine, sleep, and home oxygen clinics.

The WJB Dorn VA Medical Center is an academic facility, and this position involves substantial formal and informal resident and pulmonary fellow education in both the inpatient and outpatient arenas. In addition, newly renovated research space is available on the Dorn campus. Faculty rank at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine is commensurate with qualifications.

Preferred Experience: Completion of ACGME accredited fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and background in clinical research and clinical education.

Salary Range: Up to $240,000 per year

Recruitment/Relocation incentive may be available for a highly qualified candidate

Selected candidate may be eligible to apply for student loan repayment thru the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Participation is based on funds availability. 

Dorn VAMC is located in Columbia, SC, the capital city, and home to the University of South Carolina and its affiliated USC School of Medicine, a nationally acclaimed library system, highly rated schools, and many outstanding golf courses. Columbia is located near a 50,000-acre lake with boating and recreational opportunities and is also in close proximity to the premier Atlantic Ocean beaches and mountains.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

US citizenship: Noncitizens may be appointed only when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.   

  •     Degree of Doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.  
  •    Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has licensure in that country.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
