Cleveland Clinic, one of the world’s most distinguished academic medical centers announces a search for the Department Chair of Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgery within the Heart and Vascular Institute.

 

The Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery provides cardiovascular and thoracic care to over 5,600 patients annually undergoing all types of cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures within 20 operating rooms.  We strive to advance cardiothoracic surgery through clinical excellence, education, research and innovation.  Cleveland Clinic has ranked #1 for cardiac surgery for the past 22 years in a row. 

 

The Department includes 13 cardiac and 4 thoracic surgeons on the Main Campus apart from surgeons at regional hospitals and overseeing 25 affiliate programs.  The Heart and Vascular Institute is a valve disease, coronary disease, and aortic center of excellence and has a busy heart and lung transplant program.  There are 76 beds in the cardiothoracic intensive care units.

 

The ideal candidate should be widely recognized and have experience leading a large cardiothoracic surgery practice.  In addition, candidates should have an excellent record of clinical service, leadership, teaching and scholarship.  The Department Chair will have responsibility for the clinical, educational, research and financial programs of the department.  A faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with experience is available at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.
