The Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center located in Augusta, GA is searching for a BE/BC Psychiatrist to join their Mental Health team. The psychiatrist is an independent provider who is highly skilled in the management of a patient's mental health needs or subspecialty evaluation and treatment.

The positions are located at the Augusta, GA VA Medical Center.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

•Provide general clinical psychiatric services to Veterans and including on-call services

•General psychiatric care of adult Veterans and may include, but are not limited to, conducting diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consults, medication management, and individual or group psychotherapy

•Psychiatrist may be expected to provide direct clinical supervision of mid-level providers, psychiatric advanced practice nurses or physician assistants and other staff as appropriate

•Required to exercise judgment in the selection of or adaptation of standard and accepted clinical theories, techniques, and practices in treating patients or developing new techniques and programs for the treatment of specialized problems or clinical populations. Other services include, but are not limited to, treatment of common patient diagnoses to include anxiety disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depression and other mood disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and other Serious Mental Illnesses, Dementia, mental disorder related to Traumatic Brain Injuries, and any other psychiatric interventions deemed necessary by Mental Health Service Line management

•The Psychiatrist shall be expected to cooperate with and participate in medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review, improvement, and with other performance improvement activities. Psychiatrist carries an outpatient clinical workload along with assigned administrative and professional responsibilities. Psychiatrist is responsible for the longitudinal management of the patient within a sound clinical environment, while creating an efficient cost-management of the patient's on-going care.

Psychiatrist is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of care; conducts history, physical exams, and mental status exams on assigned patients; completes intake assessments and formulates diagnosis; develops and presents treatments plans to the multidisciplinary treatment team; orders all necessary laboratory and radiological assessments; initiates consults and referrals; maintains effective and up-to-date documentation of patient encounters; performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: Up to $240,000 per year

Recruitment/Relocation Incentive may be authorized for a highly qualified candidate

Selected candidate may be eligible to apply for student loan repayment thru the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Participation is based on funds availability.
