The Position:

Reporting directly to the President and CEO of Presence Health, the President of Presence Medical Group (PMG) is responsible for the direction and management of PMG. He/she maintains broad accountability for the clinical, operational, and financial performance of PMG, with responsibility for all administrative functions of PMG, including strategic and business planning and development, operations, finance, physician compensation, marketing, human resources, information systems, and performance improvement. The President serves as a member of the senior leadership team of Presence Health, and serves as a member of the System Operations Council for Presence Medical Group.

The President of PMG is a highly visible executive who will work closely with the Presence Health CEO and other members of the senior team to drive organizational change. This individual will be an active participant and contributor in the continual assessment, development, implementation, and achievement of Presence Health goals, strategies, and outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, confident, and engaging executive. He/she will demonstrate strong advocacy for provider-led integrated primary and specialty care. The ideal candidate possesses strong strategic and critical-thinking skills, as well as an ability to effectively prioritize and manage resources. 


  • A physician (MD and DO) executive with relevant medical group leadership experience is preferred for this role.
  • A post-graduate business degree and/or healthcare degree – MBA, MMM, or MPH is highly desired.
  • Ten or more years of healthcare leadership experience, with a focus on medical/physician organization leadership, is required; five or more years of experience in a significant physician group practice leadership role is desired.
  • Prior experience in a leadership role within a large healthcare organization or hospital setting preferred. Experience within an organization with a hybrid (employed/voluntary) medical staff is a plus.
  • Prior experience/involvement with a risk-sharing environment – managed care, clinically integrated network, or ACO is preferred.

Presence Medical Group (PMG) is the multispecialty physician group practice of Presence Health. Through PMG, Presence Health strategically recruits and employs physicians and advanced practice clinicians to meet the needs of the communities it serves. PMG includes hospital-based physicians in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, and radiology; and community-based primary care physicians in internal medicine, family medicine, and pediatrics. PMG also employs physicians in medical and surgical specialties including cardiology, endocrinology, ENT, geriatric medicine, hematology/oncology, neurology, OB/GYN, orthopedics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, rheumatology, and urology. At present, PMG employs approximately 330 providers at more than 90 locations across greater Chicago.
