Seeking qualified applicants, Board Certified/Board Eligible Reconstruction Urologist who will be experienced in all aspects of general urology, including major and minor surgery as well as routine outpatient procedures, with significant experience and expertise in independently managing complex abdominal urologic reconstruction, genitourinary trauma, male and female incontinence procedures, urethral reconstruction (anterior and posterior urethroplasty with or without buccal mucosal grafts), bladder outlet obstruction, penile reconstruction, buried penis repairs, and surgical management of erectile dysfunction. Fellowship training in these specific subspecialty areas is desired.

Supervision of residents and advanced practice providers in all aspects of urologic practice is expected. Duties include direct patient care on inpatient acute care wards, outpatient clinics, intensive care units, and in the operating suite. The candidate must also be flexible in responding to clinical demands, maintain professional competencies, adhere to professional responsibilities, utilize electronic medical records to accurately document patient care, and code encounters in a timely manner, practice and maintain high ethical standards, and promote a work environment that is harmonious and patient oriented.

The Section of Urology serves as one of the three teaching hospitals in the University of Michigan, Department of Urology. The candidate should possess experience supervising and educating surgical residents and have an extensive background and experience in conducting successful and published clinical research. Candidates must be eligible for academic appointment at the University of Michigan School of Medicine. Board certification or eligibility in Urology is required for academic appointment. Additional clinical responsibilities include provision of on-call coverage for the Ann Arbor VA and University of Michigan hospital simultaneously on evenings, over-night, weekends, and holidays, as well as attending mandatory weekly departmental conferences and participating in educational programs.

The incumbent is responsible to contribute to the achievements of quality of care standards, efficiency, process improvement, and patient satisfaction. They are expected to practice in accordance with professional standards, core values, and with a commitment to service excellence.

This position is full time and includes employment as a faculty member in the University of Michigan School of Medicine, with a 5/8ths effort devoted to the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. Requires credentials and research publications that will allow the candidate to obtain a joint appointment with the University of Michigan School of Medicine.
