Assistant Professor of Infectious Diseases, Associate Hospital Epidemiolgist
The Johns Hopkins University Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor in Infectious Diseases, with a particular focus on hospital epidemiology and infection control. The successful applicant should have advanced training in hospital epidemiology, previous experience as an associate hospital epidemiologist, and training and experience in the conduct of investigator-initiated studies investigating novel methods of infection prevention. A scientific publication record including first-author papers in leading peer reviewed journals is required. The successful applicant will be an infectious diseases physician-hospital epidemiologist who will be charged with developing a portfolio of innovative research in infection prevention and ideally will have a track record of obtaining funding through peer-reviewed grants and awards to support their research. The candidate will have opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and scholarship, working with faculty focused on infection prevention research. This individual will participate in an active clinical and research program in infection prevention and infectious diseases and should be eligible for licensure in the State of Maryland.
Responsibilities will include: monitoring and preventing hospital acquiring infections, attending on inpatient units, and developing and supervising clinical research protocols. The academic appointment will be commensurate with the individual’s experience. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package with a current salary range for this position of $121K to 136K.
The ideal applicant will have experience and expertise in hospital epidemiology and infection prevention clinical research as evidenced by training, publications, and extramural funding along with a proven track record of teaching students, residents, and fellows, as evidenced by formal recognition, experience, and references.
Education: MD required, additional Masters of Epidemiology preferred.
