University of Colorado Health/Colorado Health Medical Group (CHMG) is recruiting a Trauma/Acute Care Surgeon with a strong background and interest in trauma/acute care surgery research and education to join our Trauma/Acute Care Surgery Service Line at Memorial Hospital – Central located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

  • Candidate must be Board Certified in general surgery and surgical critical care
  • Must have 5+ years clinical experience in acute care surgery and trauma as well as trauma/acute care surgery research and surgical education leadership experience
  • Candidate must qualify for faculty appointment with the University of Colorado School of Medicine
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships is essential
  • Must have demonstrated ability to make decisions, problem solve and implement change along-side colleagues, support staff and administrators
  • Position is expected to be ½ time clinical and ½ time devoted to research and education of residents and medical students

In 2009, the Poudre Valley Health System, now University of Colorado Health, established Poudre Valley Medical Group, now Colorado Health Medical Group with providers from several private groups throughout northern Colorado. This new group created an integrated physician/health system partnership.

The goal was to create a shared philosophy where providers at clinics worked within the system to provide world-class health care. Oversight for the medical group is provided by the CHMG Board of Managers which primarily consists of employed providers and administrative staff. Joint Operating Committees (JOC) have been established to work in conjunction with the Board and medical directors in developing standards for clinical quality, address resource issues and increase access to care for patients.
