Newport Hospital, a Lifespan partner, is seeking an experienced professional to provide medical direction for the Hospital Medicine Program at Newport Hospital. As Medical Director, 25% of MD’s schedule will be allocated to administrative responsibilities with the remaining 75% of schedule allocated to clinical responsibilities.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Leading a well-established team of physicians and nurse practitioners providing 24/7 coverage in a shift model program with block scheduling
• Recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of hospital medicine providers
• Participation on Hospital and Lifespan committees, program development and quality oversight
• Performing all duties of Hospital Medicine Physician in accordance with medical staff privileges

Qualified candidates must have the following credentials:

• MD/DO; Board certified in internal medicine
• License to practice medicine in Rhode Island
• Current BLS/ACLS certification
• Demonstrated skills in medicine and medical education in an academically oriented healthcare institution
• Three years of clinical experience in Hospital Medicine
• Experience with administrative functions
