The Department of Medicine at the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, Vermont has initiated a search for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level (Clinical Scholar Pathway) in the Division of Infectious Diseases. We are seeking an outstanding physician/educator with a commitment to clinical care and medical education.

Clinical service will include attending on our busy inpatient infectious diseases consultation service at the University of Vermont Medical Center, the academic medical center providing tertiary care for over a million residents of Vermont and Upstate NY. The faculty member will interact with fellows, residents, medical students, and pharmacists, as well as provide outpatient care in our Ryan White-funded HIV clinic. There are ample opportunities to be involved in student, resident, fellow, medical staff, and state-wide community education. Professional expertise in teaching and education can be enhanced by participation in the UVM Teaching Academy. The pursuit of scholarly activity and the development of faculty-led research is strongly encouraged. Current research strengths within our program include the study of enteric infections and the development of novel therapeutics (with a focus on intestinal protozoa) as well as the work of the UVM Vaccine Testing Center, including the development of vaccines of global significance (especially) such as for Dengue and Zika, and human immunology. Our division also provides leadership in medical student and resident education, infection prevention, pandemic preparedness, and antibiotic stewardship.
