The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (General Organization) (KFSH&RC-Gen Org) is a tertiary care, state-of-the-art Hospital situated in the cities of Riyadh and Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and accredited by the Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA). Our combined bed capacity of 1,452 is dispersed over three locations. KFSH&RC is the national referral of sub-specialties for Oncology, Organ Transplantation, Cardiovascular Diseases, Neurosciences, and Genetic Diseases with postgraduate education programs that support both Residency and Fellowship Training. Expansion projects are planned, including the development of a Pediatric Care Hospital, a dedicated Oncology & Liver Centre, and a Biotechnology Centre.

The Department of Critical Care Medicine operates a "closed" ICU with 53 beds for adult medical and surgical patients. Annual admissions average 1,850. We provide tertiary care facilities for critically ill patients based on evidence-based practices and state-of-the-art technology. Our multidisciplinary medical team consists of 17 consultant intensivists, nine assistant intensivists, eight fellows, and 8-10 rotating residents. KFSH&RC is the largest transplant center in the area, in our ICU, we take care of patients with solid organ transplant, including liver, lung, and kidney, in addition to bone marrow transplant. We have an active neurosurgery and oncology surgery dealing with complex surgical cases. Respiratory therapists provide continuous on-site support for patients with acute and chronic respiratory failure, and an experienced multinational nursing staff provides 1:1 cover for all critically ill patients. Critical Care Medicine provides quality care to severely ill patients and works to optimize resource utilization and increase the ability to manage patients needing life support, locally in special lower care areas such as High Dependency Unit or Home Mechanical Ventilation Program, and nationally through the Tele-ICU Program.

It provides state-of-the-art, comprehensive, timely, and cost-effective medical care. It is committed to supporting other services by providing quality medical consultation and devoting its resources to planning, quality improvement, and control of infection in the Hospital. It also provides competitive medical and subspecialty training and education. Research activities in areas of disease, pathology, management, and prevention are part of its pledge to the community.

Qualified candidates must have graduated from an accredited medical school, completed required period of training, specialty, and sub-specialty with Board certification & membership or fellowship status in the United Kingdom or Canada, or equivalent. Sub-specialty training and certification (if applicable) are required. Chairman should have post training (residency and fellowship, if applicable, i.e. after board certification or equivalent); independent clinical experience of at least (10) years, and must have teaching and research accomplishments. Publications records must be original articles in peer-reviewed journals and number of publications should be a minimum of 10. Administrative experience as Chairman/Deputy Chairman/Head of Section/Head of Medical Service or similar position should be a minimum of (5) years.
